PROPER NAMES IN THE INDONESIAN-ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF NOVEL LASKAR PELANGI: A TRANSLATION PROCEDURES ANALYSIS

Translation of literary works is not simply a rendering process from one language to another. It requires the choice appropriate methods and procedures in order produce good-quality translation. The purpose this study, reveal translation used by translator Indonesian-English novel Laskar Pelangi, Rainbow Troops. refer theory suggested Newmark. This study designed as qualitative namely Descriptive Study (DTS). data are collected using document procedure then analyzed thematic analysis. result shows that there 327 PN found, 223 them have equivalent TL. There twelve include addition (3%), couplets (16%), cultural (2%), expansion reduction (6%), functional (4%), recognized (9%), through (11%), transference (39%), transposition modulation (0.4%). Transference dominates procedures. finding implies tends be oriented SL (emphasis on SL).
